Mokshada Tripathy Is Taking Odisha’s Cultural Legacy from Classical Stages to Global Spotlight

Mokshada Tripathy has emerged as one of Odisha’s rising cultural ambassadors, carrying the grace of Odissi dance from India’s most prestigious stages to international platforms across the world. An International Odissi Artist, B-Grade Artist of Doordarshan Odisha, actress, educator, and performer, she represents a new generation of artists dedicated to preserving tradition while expanding its reach through contemporary mediums.

With a Master’s degree in Odissi Dance and more than 15 years of rigorous training, Mokshada has built a career defined by discipline, artistic excellence, and cultural commitment. Her performances are marked by a rare blend of technical precision and expressive storytelling, allowing audiences to experience the spiritual depth and timeless beauty that define Odissi.

Taking Odisha’s Cultural Heritage to the World

Over the years, Mokshada has represented Indian classical dance at prestigious festivals and cultural platforms across Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, Bahrain, Nepal, and France. Through these performances, she has helped introduce global audiences to the richness of Odisha’s artistic heritage while strengthening the international presence of Odissi.

Her journey reflects the role of a cultural ambassador—someone who not only performs an art form but also carries its history, values, and identity across borders. Each stage she steps onto becomes a bridge connecting tradition with contemporary audiences.

Recognition Across National and International Platforms

Mokshada’s dedication to her craft has earned her recognition both in India and abroad. In 2023, she secured First Position at Bharat Sanskriti Yatra in Bangkok, Thailand, adding an international milestone to her growing list of accomplishments.

Her contribution to classical dance was further acknowledged through the Best International Odissi Artist Award 2025. She also received the Bharat Vibhusan Award 2025 by JJ Crowns, along with honors including the International Proud Womania Award and the Top 30 Inspiring Women Awards 2025.

These accolades reflect not only artistic achievement but also her growing influence as a representative of Indian culture on global platforms.

Performing on India’s Most Prestigious Stages

Throughout her career, Mokshada has performed at some of India’s most respected classical dance festivals, including the Mukteswar Dance Festival, Lingaraj Festival, Konark Dance Festival, Chakradhar Samaroh, and Khajuraho Dance Festival.

Her artistic excellence has also earned invitations from institutions such as the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Culture, and various international cultural organizations. These opportunities have allowed her to showcase Odissi before diverse audiences while contributing to the preservation and promotion of India’s classical arts.

Beyond Dance: Exploring Storytelling Through Cinema

While classical dance remains at the heart of her artistic identity, Mokshada has also expanded her creative journey into acting. For her, both dance and cinema share a common purpose—storytelling. One speaks through movement, the other through character, yet both seek to create emotional connection.

She appeared in the Odia short film Bapa, which was released on MX Player and later streamed on Tarang TV and Tarang+ OTT. Her work as an actress reflects her versatility as a performer and her willingness to explore new forms of artistic expression while remaining deeply connected to her cultural roots.

Rather than existing separately, her work in dance and cinema complements one another, allowing her to engage with audiences through multiple creative platforms.

Nurturing the Next Generation of Artists

Beyond performing, Mokshada is also committed to education and mentorship. As an educator, she continues to inspire aspiring dancers by sharing not only technical knowledge but also the values of discipline, dedication, and cultural appreciation.

She believes that preserving an art form requires more than performance alone. It requires continuous learning, teaching, and creating opportunities for younger generations to connect with their artistic heritage.

Today, Mokshada Tripathy stands as a multifaceted artist whose journey spans classical dance, acting, education, and cultural representation. Through every performance, classroom, and creative project, she continues to strengthen the legacy of Odissi while inspiring others to embrace the transformative power of art.
